https://amzn.to/2qHOa0J - This is our favorite filter to use on turtle tanks. It was last years most sold canister filter and works great. Here is a link for more info:

My pet turtle's water is cloudy. What's the best filter to use in his tank? So I have been relying on the pet shop who sell the regular cats, dogs and fish but also turtles, snakes, scorpions, etc. They seemed reliable but have now been speak to my exotic pet vet who has told us the opposite of what the pet shop says in most cases. Does anyone have 2 Murray River short neck turtles that have grown together and lived together for years? My vet says they have to live on their own or they'll attack the others who will end up losing limbs but the pet shop says only if they fight for food but they're all fed separately. I have 2 MRSN turtles and 2 eastern long necks, oldest is about 1yo and youngest is maybe 5months old... http://turtletanksetup.com/
Id say the vet knows best, but there are always exceptions. Id say just keep a close eye on them and make sure there is always plenty of food.
Yeah we thought go with what the vet says but at the same time, I really hope that it's true that feeding them separately will make it enough. We always try to keep live plants in their tank with them so they have something to munch on if needed. Fingers crossed my vet doesn't have me come in with a turtle needing an amputation!
My son has been asking for a pet land turtle/tortoise for a while now. We found a lady that was re-homing their family pets on a local BST. I sent the hubby to pick them up and of course he didn't ask any questions just paid and left unsure emoticon
It appears we have a male red ear slider and an Asian Box turtle. Searching Google I am learning that these are both mainly water turtles. I've attached pictures of the enclosure that was given to us. She said that they eat fruit and meal warms and that she has had them for about 3 years.
My husband and I want to do what is right for these turtles. Our son will be sad if we have to re-home them but we can not have a 50-60 gallon tank! Any and all advice appreciated!!!!!!

Sliders will definetly need lots of water. I have a red eared slider and I just spent over $500 on a 75 gallon tank with stand a gear, he is 10 yrs old. The amount of water you need is based on on their size, females are larger and will need a bigger enclosure.
They have been living in this enclosure for the past 2-3 years with their previous family. Does this seem acceptable? I'm not sure if it is a slider or an ornate wood turtle. Gonna get some close up pics of it once he comes out. Just got it all set up and he seems a little shy.
